He loved her dancing shoulders
As she walked on tip-toe
Round the corner of the barn.
Her head tilted back,
Her chin in the air,
She smiled and waved
Welcoming him home.
She vanished into the house
As he parked the car.
Opening the door
He saw her silhouette
Crossing the window
At the foot of the stair.
He watched her as she
Reached the landing, then
Tossing her hair, she
Collected some socks
From the bannister
And disappeared
Through the bathroom door.
The telephone rang.
It was her.
She was on her way
And would be home in an hour.
